What to do

The Chatham Islands as a number of places to explore, things to experience and see.

Take easy walks and explore the lush bush and reserves or take a coastal route and marvel at the cliffs and ocean views. There are also a number of early historical places dating back to pre-Maori settling.

The natural landscapes and wildlife are still very much unaffected by the arrival of humans to the island and you will find still find unique flora and fauna and coastal areas teaming with birds.

The Chatham Islands is also home to scared and historical Moriori carvings like nowhere else in New Zealand and early cottages that are still standing built over 150 years ago when New Zealand was first settled.
